As the 2015 NBA free agency period opened, the Portland Trail Blazers management reached a successful contract negotiation with 24-year-old point guard Damian Lillard. The 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year signed a maximum five-year, $120 million extension deal, which will start in the 2016-2017 regular season.
Damian Lillard has averaged 21 points per game, as well as 6.1 assists, since Portland chose him sixth overall out of Weber State in the 2012 draft. In addition, he has received All-Star team selections in two of his three years in the league. Lillard will return in the fall with a new supporting cast on the starting lineup.
